About Carrie

Hi. My name is Carrie and I have been teaching since 1999. I currently teach a self-contained Grade 7 class in Surrey, BC (suburb of Vancouver) and have taught mostly Grade 7s my entire career. They kind of grow on you after a while! I enjoy teaching about the Holocaust, forensic science, and mythology. I am considered a technological "geek" and love using our Mac computers to enhance our learning. I have integrated lessons in every subject! My students, however, enjoy learning to create websites and programme in html and javascript the most. (Just don't let them know I haven't yet figured out how to manipulate javascript - which is why I always challenge them to "show you have the skills").

I am happily married for 23 years now (time flies) and have two adult children (time flew!). I also have a tabby cat, Mocha, who is like a third child in many ways. I was a stay-at-home/go to university part-time mom for many years! My mother called me a "Professional Student". My husband and I love to cruise - mostly the Caribbean! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cross-stitch, and taking my frustrations out on the weeds in my garden.

The Connection has kept me sane for many years and given me many MANY good ideas to use in my classroom. I volunteer as a ListMom whenever I can in hopes of giving something back to all those who help me stay sane!

About Carolyn (taking a break)

I am married with two boys. Currently I am teaching half time grade 4 in our local Catholic school. I have taught on and off for 15 years, having 2 children messes with one's teaching record. I have taught grade 1, 3, 4 and 5. I have also had the chance to Sub at almost every grade level and subject.I have had the opportunity to teach Natives, Mennonites and in regular small towns.

I live in Edson, Alberta which is half way between our provincial capital of Edmonton and the tourist destination of Jasper in the Rocky Mountains.

I love to scapbook, cook, go geocaching, go camping, quilt, cross county ski and ice fish. O.K, I have to keep up with the boys somehow! You can usually find me at school or, hanging out at Wallmart or cruising around town in my truck pretending to be Super Mom. I am a list mom because I am learning new things every day. I have been part of this list serv on and off since 1998! I even have a swearshirt to prove it! That's pretty much all about me.
