About Avis
Now retired after 42 years of teaching in various grades with my  first green year was in a rural school  in ND,  after that I taught  Kgn, 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th all in regular classrooms in Montana, and North Dakota.
Spare time I volunteer to work with kids at school in reading and find it is hard to say no to a kid who asks for help  and I also help another friend with her 1st graders in computer lab  on Monday.  I also volunteer and work with CHIPS  (Children of Incarcerated Parents) kids on Monday after school  and Monday night is also our Bible Study night  (so Monday is a busy day!)
For fun and health, I like to walk, read and  garden and mow my own lawn. I live in a Manufactured Home I love and  I love breakfasts out, as this is when I read my paper and my books and visit with friends.  And then when not doing any of the above, I work on the website and the lists. I love working with every one and giving back ideas I have received so many times during my teaching years from the people on our lists. Thanks to all!
I have 2 wonderful young adults and a wonderful son-in-law.  Barry lives in Kenosha, Wisconsin and works for the We-Energy power plant. Curt and Jan live in Fargo, N.Dak where Curt writes books on ND History, works at their church, and Jan  edits the articles as well as taking courses  and looking for a new position.    I am blessed  ;-)

About  Ann
 Hello
I'm a bit of a displaced person - I taught middle school math for 8 years in a Catholic school, but have taught for the last two years at a public High School here in Dutchess County, NY.  I have learned so much from all the Connectioneers and from Avis that I couldn't bear to leave the group when I moved to high school.  I've learned so much and not all of it about teaching!

I help with questions when I can (although NOT with that icky probability question), I'm a former Saxon teacher and a fan of the method.  I've been back to college classes to finish my certification requirements for high school and have been very busy with that and getting up to speed with the NYS curriculum.

In my "spare" time, I do the costuming for the high school play(s), I like to read (I'm a former TestBuster who is reduced to listening to books on CD/tape in the car now!).  I also knit, spin on a spinning wheel and weave on a loom when I have time.  I have a busy musician-self-employed-  screen-printing husband and a son who loves baseball and who will be in his second year of college in September.
Ann   in the Mid Hudson Valley, between NYC and Albany where it is rainy and cool today.

Still coming,  Laura C, Judy, Karin and Barb P.
