1.  Clown:  Tries to make light of the situation by making jokes, being funny. I think this is the same as the Mascot.

2: Enabler:  Takes care of every one but not always their self   usually doesn't smile

3: Hero: The good kid who tries to do everything right to give the impression the family is ok.  They try never to  do anythng wrong. They also try to get honors possibly awards. who is usually the oldest child, is characteristically over-responsible and an over-achiever.

4: Scape Goat: (rebel) Usually the one that gets the family into treatment. This chid gets the brunt of it all to take the heat off the dysfuntional family.  They tend to get pushed out of the family since they cause problems. who is often the second born, characteristically acts out in anger and defiance, often behaving in delinquent ways, but inwardly he or she feels hurt in that the family's attention has gone to the Dependent or the Hero, and he or she has been ignored.

5. Lost Child:  goes into fantasy, becomes quiet  wishes every one could be like "him or her". They often day dream to get away from pain.   Inwardly, he or she feels like an outsider in the family, ignored by parents and siblings, and feels lonely.

6.Mascot:  The Mascot role is manifested by clowning and hyperactivity. The Mascot, often the youngest child, seeks to be the center of attention in the family, often entertaining the family and making everyone feel better through his or her comedy and zaniness.
We use what works in a dysfunctional family.      If you are not a part of the of solution you are a part of the problem.

Making a change is uncomfortable  and no one likes a change.  A withdrawal keeps a fight going.

Family ghost,   we repeat  from original family into our lives unless we force a change.
