In 1997, (a few years back) ;-)   I was teaching 5th or 6th grade,  and I had reached a point where I was either going to quit or something had to change.  I was on "Teacher to Teacher" at that time,  and decided to see if I could get some ideas on my same grade level.  Asked for permission to post to T-T  and see if I could  start a  list of 5-6th grade teachers. With permission granted,  our venture began.  We soon found out that it was important to also have grades below us and above as well.

So we branched into 4-8 Connection which we are now.   These educators actually rescued me with their ideas,   and the ideas kept me going for another 5 years.  Not only myself but my fellow teachers and my principal were impressed as well.  And here we are...still here!
